Our Process

Since 1985, Advanced AV has served the business, education, government, and worship markets with an engineering-led approach to AV systems integration. Numerous factors — from user and operator needs to functional and technical variables — go into consideration at each step in our process. The end result is technology integration with a personal touch, providing you with a fully functional system that is easy to use and maximizes your return on investment.

As an InfoComm International Diamond Level AV Solutions Provider, Advanced AV delivers professionally managed AV system design and project management. We take great care in providing project deliverables like drawings, documentation, and control system programming. In addition, our project managers, technicians, engineers, and installers have the experience necessary to work with other trades to get things done.

Our process begins with a careful needs analysis to establish clients’ goals. We remain dedicated to the achievement of those initiatives throughout the installation, training, and maintenance phases of a project. Our work isn’t done until we turn your concepts and ideas into reality — effectively and economically.

Every project is assigned a team of sales, engineering, project management, technical, testing, and service professionals who work together to move the project forward and report status weekly. In our newly remodeled and expanded 2,200-square-foot Systems Room, project managers, systems programmers, service coordinators, and field technicians share ideas and expertise on systems designs.

Throughout the installation and maintenance phases of your project, you’ll find that our field staff arrives on site on time and right on schedule. Our fleet of installation and technical service vans is kept on a strict service schedule, and arrives fully equipped with all the necessary parts, tools, and test equipment required for professional on-site installation and service.

The following description of our process will provide you with an idea of what you can look forward to when working with Advanced AV. We’ll be there to answer any questions or address any concerns you have along the way.

Needs Analysis and Budgeting

To establish the parameters of a client’s needs, we take a close look at the purpose of the space or technology and the people who will be operating the equipment. Next, a site survey provides insights into the architectural and environmental elements of the project, after which the Advanced AV team will work through the function of the system versus budget, focusing on the benefits your investment will yield. A proposal will then be created providing scope of work, an equipment list, installation, training, and maintenance plans.

Project Management

Upon acceptance of the proposal, Advanced AV initiates project planning, design, and engineering. A project timeline will be established and installation date set. A project manager (PM) is assigned to every Advanced AV project and is the client’s primary point of contact during the construction of the facility. The project manager is responsible for:

  • Site inspections
  • Project cost determination
  • Project timeline development
  • Construction management
  • Manpower allocation
  • Equipment ordering
  • Working with other trades/subcontractors
  • Maintaining client dialogue
  • End-user training

Execution of Advanced AV projects is based on Critical Path Management, which models the activities and events of a project as a network and ensures that a project is seamlessly orchestrated from groundbreaking to completion.

Design and Engineering

Once project management has been set in motion, Advanced AV’s experienced staff of engineers, programmers, and drafters will develop a programming document based on the needs analysis. An Order of Magnitude Budget will also be established. Depending on the requirements of the project, any necessary acoustic reporting will be arranged, and then schematic designs and construction documents will be completed.

Procurement and Fabrication

Once design is complete, systems are built in Advanced AV’s 1,400-square-foot, fully carpeted and climate-controlled Fabrication Shop. Here, custom equipment racks, systems, and sub-systems are staged prior to on-site delivery. This staging area has a full assortment of test jigs and supplies to effectively test, burn-in, and debug almost all systems in-house prior to installation at the client’s facility. This approach prevents time-consuming on-
site troubleshooting, and expedites clients’ access to technology once it arrives on site.

After your system is tested, Advanced AV’s certified installers and technicians meticulously integrate the equipment into your facility. All on-site Advanced AV technicians participate in company training and educational programs, including monthly technical breakfasts, seminars, and manufacturer product training. In addition, all technicians have access to TechWeb, Advanced AV’s customized intranet site and knowledge base for product information, training materials, and company best practices.

Once the installation is complete and on-site testing has established that the parameters of the original system design have been met, your PM will check your satisfaction with the system and arrange for operator training. Advanced AV’s team of experts will be on site to make sure that all those who will be using the technology feel comfortable in doing so.

Preventative Maintenance and Warranty

Critical to the success of any project is the client’s satisfaction. The best return on investment is knowledge that your integrated AV system functions well and receives the maintenance and updates it needs in order maximize performance. If any issues should arise, you’ll want to have someone you can rely on to get your system back online promptly.
